(As transcribed by Luke)

This volume includes six of Paul's epistles (letters) - the first six he wrote.  They were written during his second and third missionary journeys.  We consider them in the order in which Paul dictated them:
     I Tnessalonians
     II Thessalonians
     I Corinthians
     II Corinthians
This is a verse-by-verse consideration, tying each letter to the church and the circumstances found in the Book of Acts.  We note that Paul, a student of the well-known Jewish teacher Gamaliel, taught exclusively from the Old Testament (there was no New Testament at the time).  In order to become a disciple of Gamaliel it was required that one memorize, word perfect, the five Books of Moses - Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy.  In one case, Paul runs on for six continuous verses, quoting from the Old Testament.  Of all the apostles, Paul was the most educated in the Old Testament Scriptures, and used them to prove that Jesus was the promised Messih of Israel.

Normally in our books we use a larger than normal size print (font) because it makes it easier to read on the full size pages we use.  We also have put a space between each paragraph; also for the purpose of ease of reading.  When we set out on this project it was our intention to include all of Paul's epistles and the Book of Hebrews in one book.  Early on it became apparent that there was far too mcuh material for one book; so we split it into two books: Book 1 containing letters Paul wrote during his three missionary journeys; Book 2 containing letters Paul wrote from prison in Rome, and letters to pastors written just after his first release from prison.  Hebrews became a stand-alone book.  The maximum number of pages we can fit into one book is 400.  When we finished these first six epistles, we had just short of 600 pages.  Therefore it became necessary to shrink the size of the print to more like the size you find in other books, and to add lines to each page.  By doing so, we were able to get the number of pages down to about 375.
